The five cards that make your hand
This is the single most common beginner mistake — not knowing what you are holding. Remember you only ever use five cards. Sometimes both of your cards play, sometimes only one, and sometimes neither: if the five in the middle are already the best hand, everyone still in has exactly that hand.
